Bisoprolol

A cardioselective beta-blocker targeting the heart with minimal airway effects, making it preferred in patients with asthma or COPD. Widely used in heart failure, hypertension, angina, and atrial fibrillation. Commonly prescribed after cardiac arrest. Blunts exercise heart rate response. Must not be stopped suddenly without medical guidance.

Beta-blocker

A class of medication that blocks adrenaline’s effects on the heart, slowing heart rate, reducing blood pressure, and suppressing arrhythmias. Widely used after cardiac arrest and in heart failure, Long QT Syndrome, HCM, and CPVT. Should not be stopped suddenly. Blunts heart rate response to exercise during cardiac rehabilitation.

Atorvastatin

A high-intensity statin that lowers LDL cholesterol and reduces cardiovascular risk by inhibiting cholesterol production in the liver. Commonly prescribed after cardiac arrest caused by coronary artery disease as secondary prevention. Taken once daily. Side effects include muscle aches; grapefruit juice should be avoided. Unexplained muscle pain warrants medical review.
