Minor injuries such as jellyfish stings, insect bites, or superficial cuts will not affect your ICD. The device is sealed in a titanium casing designed to withstand the body’s environment, and minor external injuries have no known effect on its function.
If you sustain a more significant injury — particularly any direct trauma to the area where your device is implanted — contact your device clinic or GP to have the site checked. Signs of concern include pain, swelling, redness, or the skin breaking down over the device pocket.
