Post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD]

A mental health condition developing after traumatic events, extremely common after cardiac arrest in both survivors and witnesses. Core symptoms include flashbacks, intrusive memories, avoidance, hypervigilance, and emotional numbing. Highly treatable with trauma-focused CBT and EMDR. Access via GP, Cardiac Nurse Specialist, or NHS Talking Therapies self-referral.
