A mild traumatic brain injury caused by a blow or jolt to the head. Contrary to common belief, loss of consciousness is not required for a concussion diagnosis — most concussions do not involve passing out. Symptoms may include headache, confusion, dizziness, memory problems, and sensitivity to light or noise. Concussion can occur following cardiac arrest due to a fall at the time of collapse.
