Wernicke’s Area

Located in the temporal lobe, Wernicke’s area is the region of the brain responsible for language comprehension — understanding spoken and written words. Damage to this area typically results in Wernicke’s aphasia, where speech is fluent but lacks meaningful content. (See also BROCA’S AREA)
