Special muscle fibers that conduct electrical impulses throughout the heart muscle

Glossary: Bundle Branch Block
An abnormality in which one of the heart's electrical conduction pathways is blocked, forcing the affected ventricle to activate more slowly. Left BBB is more often associated with serious heart disease; right BBB can occur in normal hearts. New LBBB with chest pain is treated as a potential heart attack. Wide LBBB in heart failure may benefit from cardiac resynchronisation therapy.
