A person who has experienced a cardiac arrest and survived. Survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest remain low overall, though outcomes are improving with greater public awareness of CPR and wider availability of AEDs. Survivors face a wide range of physical, cognitive, and psychological challenges during recovery, including fatigue, memory difficulties, anxiety, PTSD, and adjustment to living with an ICD. Each survivor’s experience is unique, and peer support — connecting with others who have been through a similar experience — is widely valued.
