Can I go through airport security with an ICD?

Yes. Given the short duration of security screening, it is unlikely that your heart device will be affected by metal detectors or full-body imaging scanners at airports, concert venues, courts, or other public buildings.

The metal casing of your device may set off a metal detector. To minimise any risk of interference, walk through archways at a normal pace without stopping or lingering, and avoid touching metal surfaces around screening equipment.

If a hand-held wand is used, ask the security officer not to hold or wave it directly over your implant site. You can request a manual pat-down search as an alternative. Show your device ID card if you have one. If you have any concerns, explain your situation to security personnel and follow their instructions.
