Ten years ago, on a rainy February afternoon, survivors and co-survivors of 13 SCA gathered in a pub in South London. This meeting sparked a series of events that ultimately led to establishing a Facebook peer support community. Today, we have grown to over 3,000 members—a remarkable achievement!
2025 marks 10 years of Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK (SCA UK), and we invite you to celebrate this milestone by participating in our 10 Years Together Challenge.
What We Do
At SCA UK, we’re dedicated to supporting those affected by sudden cardiac arrest through:
- Effective peer support – Online groups, regional meet-ups, and national conferences helping survivors and co-survivors connect, share, and heal together.
- Trusted information – Comprehensive, up-to-date information on all aspects of sudden cardiac arrest and its aftermath, including medical insights, survivor experiences, and recovery guidance.
- Advocacy for after-care – Working with key stakeholders and professional bodies to influence policy, raise awareness, and ensure survivors receive the long-term physical and mental support they need.
How Your Fundraising Makes a Difference
By taking part in our 10 Years Together Challenge, every pound you raise helps us support, connect, and advocate for our community:
- £25 funds an SCA UK information pack direct to a cardiac unit, enabling us to reach survivors and co-survivors as soon as they need us
- £100 funds a podcast with a medical expert that provides reliable, accurate and accessible information
- £250 funds a table at an advocacy event that enables us to spread the word on the importance of timely and comprehensive medical aftercare

Be Inspired by Our Community
Tanya’s Dinosaur Run
“We set off at a pace, finding halfway round that the tide was up so into the sea we ran! My partner noted that it was akin to running with your knees tied together. My bronto head bounced about and the T-Rex’s all steamed up – but everyone had a great time and there was great camaraderie.”
Suzanne’s Mountain Climb
For many SCA survivors, recovery feels like climbing a mountain. Survivor Suzanne climbed an actual one to support SCA UK “for all the help and support it has given so many of us.”
“When I reached the top of the mountain, it felt quite emotional, and I was elated all at the same time!”
Lucy’s Swimming Challenge
Co-survivor Lucy, who helped save her dad by giving him CPR, found solace in swimming during challenging times.
“My dad was the person who supported my swimming, he was my taxi and gave me the best advice… He would always say, ‘Go and have a swim. You’ll feel better for it,’ when I’ve had a challenging day – and he was right.”
