Many of us here know just how powerful this community can be:
- People who truly understand.
- Shared experiences.
- Support when things feel difficult.
- Trusted information when questions arise.
This is what Sudden Cardiac Arrest UK (SCA UK) is all about.
While the support we offer each other here is freely given, the charity behind this community still needs resources to continue its work — reaching survivors and co-survivors, providing trusted information, and advocating for improved post–sudden cardiac arrest care.
What is Friends of SCA UK
We are therefore launching Friends of SCA UK — a new way for people who value this community to help support the charity behind it.
By becoming a Friend, you become part of a wider community of survivors, families, and supporters who want to help ensure this support remains available to others in the future.
Friendship will cost £24 per year and will help to sustain the work of SCA UK.

Amongst the things each of our Friends will receive when they join is a unique Friends of SCA UK badge, which we’re delighted to share with you here. It’s a small symbol, but one that represents something very important — a community of people coming together to support survivors, co-survivors and lifesavers across the UK.
Introducing Phoenix
As part of becoming a Friend of SCA UK, you will also receive our quarterly digital magazine, Phoenix, along with other benefits that we’ll be sharing more about in due course.
As you can see, the very first edition showcases the powerful photographs you so generously shared, illustrating that you are the very heart of the community.

Last year, one of our Facebook members, Emma Jayne, asked a simple question. “What if we all meet up on Restart a Heart Day?” That one question sparked something quite special.
More than 100 people connected at 15 different locations across Great Britain — some meeting in person and others joining online. It’s a wonderful example of this community’s power and how a simple idea can bring people together to connect and support one another. In the first issue of Phoenix, we share the story behind that question and what it says about the strength of the SCA UK community.
This is exactly the kind of community activity that Friends of SCA UK will help sustain.

The official launch of Friends of SCA UK will take place in April 2026, and we’re really looking forward to sharing more details with you in the coming weeks.
